Overview
A short private safari from Arusha: an afternoon among Tarangire's elephants and baobabs, a night in the Karatu highlands, then a full morning on the floor of Ngorongoro Crater.
Experience Overview
If you only have two days, this is the combination that shows the most. Tarangire, two hours from Arusha, is the best park in the north for elephants, with herds moving between baobab trees along the river. You overnight at a lodge in the green hills around Karatu, close to the Ngorongoro gate.
The second day starts early at the crater rim so you can make the most of the morning light on the crater floor, where lions, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos and, with luck, black rhino live together in one volcanic bowl. After a picnic lunch, you climb out and drive back to Arusha by evening.
