A four-day northern circuit safari from Arusha: Tarangire's elephants, a full game drive in Ngorongoro Crater and a night in the Serengeti with sunset and sunrise game drives.
Experience Overview
Four days is enough to see the three essential parks of northern Tanzania in a logical loop. You begin in Tarangire, two hours from Arusha, among the elephant herds and baobab trees along the river, then climb to the Ngorongoro highlands for a full morning on the crater floor, where the chance of black rhino makes the Big Five possible in a single day.
From the crater you cross into the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive and a night in the park, with an early game drive the following morning when predators are most active, before the long drive back to Arusha. A light-aircraft flight from the Serengeti can be arranged if you would rather save the return drive.

Itinerary

Day 1 · Tarangire National Park
Morning pick-up in Arusha and a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Game drive along the Tarangire River among elephants, giraffes, zebras and baobabs, with a picnic lunch, then continue to your lodge in Karatu for the night.
Day 2 · Ngorongoro Crater
Descend early into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive on the crater floor, with lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos and a good chance of black rhino. After a picnic lunch, climb out and drive west past Olduvai Gorge into the Serengeti, arriving at your camp for dinner.
Day 3 · Serengeti National Park
A full day of game drives in the central Serengeti, exploring the Seronera valley's rivers and kopjes for lions, leopards and cheetahs and, in season, the migration herds, with a picnic lunch on the plains.
Day 4 · Serengeti to Arusha
A final sunrise game drive, then leave the Serengeti with game viewing on the way out and drive back through the Ngorongoro highlands to Arusha, arriving in the evening (or take an optional flight from Seronera airstrip).
